Accessibility (& More) Update!

[Image- Drawing of the character Elby, sitting and listening to music from a big pair of headphones.  She's sitting in a simple dark green space, whereas she is colored in light green, with the headphones and some shaded areas colored with gradients from lime green to highlighter yellow.  She's got one eye open, looking at the viewer.]

Remember how I said I'd only update this demo for major engine improvements or glaring issues?  Well, the second one is the case here.

I'd been wracking my brain over how to incorporate image descriptions into the full game.  It turns out that's built in to Ren'Py!  A lot of the related features seem to be fairly recent, but I'll still consider this a "glaring issue".  But that's not all, either.

The whole extent of this update is as follows-

  • Added image descriptions, adjusted TTS pronunciations, and generally tweaked the dialogue for grammar fixes or to otherwise aid in the experience of using TTS.  You can experience this in Self-Voicing Mode, activated by pressing the V key in-game.
  • Added new song to Elby's route.
  • Changed songs to .ogg files, to hopefully better ensure playback.
  • You can now download the game!  (The Itch desktop app already allowed downloading HTML5 games, but now you don't need to use that.)
  • Updated Bevelyne's necklace and Harrything's pronouns to reflect more recent changes.
  • Miscellaneous adjustments to dialogue and pacing.
  • Changed thank-you text at the end of the demo.

To go along with this, I'm also putting up Snip Snip Snippy stickers on my Society6 (among some unrelated designs)!  Simple headshots of the main quartet, and a Harrything design I'd started on forever ago.

I'll be working on a similar update to this year's April Fools game next.  I doubt there's anything similar for RPG Maker 2003, since it's... well... from 2003.  So sadly, there won't be one for last year's.
